PRESS: Zoom keeps on winding down operations in Russia
MOSCOW, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- U.S. video conferencing service Zoom continues to limit its operations in Russia by shutting down an option of payment for commercial licenses and has cut access to pay accounts for a number of universities, business daily Vedomosti reported on Friday citing sources.
A source told the daily that a large university contacted his company because “Zoom discontinued the license paid till November.” A range of other universities were also cut off servicing by Zoom.
An expert reiterated that state companies stopped using Zoom’s pay services in 2021, when Zoom Video Communications forbade a Russian distributor from selling licenses for the state sector.
At present, Zoom’s commercial versions are popular in the country mainly among small and medium-sized businesses and educational institutions.
